Hi Fishos,
I got spiked by a gurnard 20 odd years ago, 2 hours of pain and that was it. Two weeks ago got jabbed again, same pain but my hand blew up for two days.My question is this for those that have been got more than twice, do you build up less resistance or is it luck of the draw with the spikey bastards?

ive been spiked about 4 times over 20 odd years and 3 were as you said just mild pain for an hour or so but also had one that also swelled up and turned black and purple

Thanks for that, I was worried the more you got spiked the worse it got. funny about the colour mine went all yellow.

The best treatment for a gurnard sting is don't let the buggers get you nuh the best thing is the hottest water you have at hand the water telltale on the motor is better than nothing even waste your coffee or tea in the thermos
if not available make it bleed to flush out the enzymes hope this helps
