Wasn't catching them. But saw a huge ball of baby squids swimming there tonight.

While launching at Margate, a gentleman landed 2 off the boat ramp jetty.  I tried about 20 spots between the ramp and Dennes Point over 4 hours for nil result.

The trick with them is, find a good weed bed.  There are some down along the southern side of the bay, from Coningham Beach towards Snug Point.  Then, turn off your fishfinder - I'm becoming more and more convinced they can sense the sonar, and don't like it - same as they can sense the boat's motor and don't like it.

Hi all,

Been having a few goes for them in Adventure Bay over the last month, but very patchy, and a lot of weed floating about in the bay from the all wild weather, which doesn't help.  Took the kids for a quick flick off the jetty down there one night recently, and first cast my 5yo daughter was onto a nice one, with her $10 pink rod, and matching pink jig (of course!).  We got 4 in 15 minutes, all rippers, then home we went, although I did leave a brand new knife on the jetty, just to take the edge off a good little session. See photo attached. Gave one squid away to an envious local!

Did you have any luck Reddory??

Cheers

I haven't tried NW Bay recently.  Did have a quick session between rain squalls down at Southport, off the wharf there - two big calamari in 3 casts, then hid in the car for a while before hopping out again to clean them between the next squalls, then home. No idea what's happening elsewhere: anyone else been having a go?
