First time Tournament Fishing

Having entered Round 6 of the Tasmanian Classic Series at Arthurs Lake last weekend we decided to video our efforts for the weekend to show how even the smallest, least powerful boat in the field, with a pair of first time tournament anglers, using cheap gear can still take it up to the big boys.

Despite a tough second day we still managed 6th position, falling just 13cm short of a top 5.

Looks like Arthurs is fishing fairly well at the moment.  Tournament or not, catching those numbers on any day is pretty good going.  They all seemed to be in fairly decent condition, too.  Apparently there were a lot last season that really didn't put much weight on - which makes one wonder why IFS decided they were good material for stocking other places like Penstock.

speaking to locals and watching shore based anglers the lake is fishing brilliant with lots of good quality well conditioned fish.

It certainly wasn't hard to find them with hundreds being caught over the weekend.  As usual many of the fish put up mediocre fights but the odd one leapt, tail walked and did all the things you expect from resident trout.

Whilst many were small, around 30cm, many boats didn't have trouble finding the big one's with plenty of 50+ cm trout boated.  the winning team averaged over 45cm per fish for the tournament.
