Headed out last Tuesday after break from fishing while travelling overseas. Had helped instal new fuel tank and Lowrance previous week. First challenge of the day was getting the Lowrance working, love touch screens with my big fingers !!

We stopped on our marker to get a few cod, plus silver perch. Solitary dolphin joined us for a few minutes but it vanished as the wind picked up. The wind was pushing straight up the passage so headed around northern tip of Maria to Fossil Bay to try for fatties. Managed a few in about 30m , mix of sand and king - biggest were mid 40's. Decided to clean fish (always good when can see bottom of the bin) and have lunch.

Then headed to southern end of Plaines beach to see if any better, but alas generally smaller.

Decided to head back happy knowing we had a few feeds, and the new finder was fully operational.

Nice work Steve goodjob1 We had a couple of days on it too this weekend but the weather didnít really play ball.

Great to see the kingies are in. Reckon the northern side of Sloppy Weather Banks would be holding them now. Generally find them there before the bottom of the island.

Wind has been a hassle, Nick. We talked about trying Sloppy Weather bank sometime soon as we bounced across to Plains.
Glad you were able to get out at weekend , always good to be on the water

Was going to try the lower East Coast for some Calamari on Thursday this week, any suggestions of my best chances.

Yeah we got a few both days but hard to find and very timid. Most were caught in deeper water 5-8 m) and colours didnít seem to make any difference.

Water was very clear til the wind came up and could see them hovering off the jigs thumbsup1

Don't forget there's a sizeable section of the east coast that's closed for calamari from the 15th October for a month.

If the winds ok try off the inside of Long Point on the entry into Chinamans. Big breeders in there just didnít get there with the wind last weekend.
