1500 wild brown trout from great lake and Arthur's 600-750grm stocked at craigbourne today.

Colossal Craigbourne Salmon
Today we stocked 90 Atlantic salmon into Craigbourne Dam. The fish were around 10kg but some bigger than 15kg. This makes them some of the largest fish ever stocked into Tasmanian waters. Their size and great condition will ensure they are strong fighting and a prize catch to an angler lucky enough to land one.

That's interesting news indeed, Dan: thank you!

No sign of it yet on the IFS news page nor on the stocking database, so I'm guessing that FBT members just got a "heads up" before the news gets out generally. In which case, thank you very much!

Now, anyone intending to have a go at these monsters might need to make sure they have good strong tackle; otherwise there could be a bunch of salmon swimming around there by this time next week with a whole Christmas tree of lures dangling from their jaws!

I wish I was privvy to that sort of Info beforehand Reddory, but unfortunately I just happened to be on facebook at the right time. Happy to share here with everyone whenever I see something you all may be interested in.

Have seen pics of a couple of them too and I must say they look a lot better conditioned than the dirty ugly old breeders they've put in there in the past.

Good luck to anyone who has a crack at them. I personally don't go for them, too many people for my likings, I usually only fish Craigy in the closed season and when the crowds have lost interest, there's plenty of good fish to be had still even then.
