a few flatties for good friday
« on: April 12, 2020, 10:18:35 am »
Well, I looked at the weather forecast, considered the bans on travelling/boating outside your own municipality, and decided I should be OK to take the boat on Thursday down the lower Huon estuary.  Damn cold start to the morning, so I wasn't in any hurry: finally hit the water about 8.30 and motored around to a favourite spot.  The ramp had 2 big trailers already parked - big boats that had probably gone way off down south.  Not another soul around.

Fish were pretty thin on the ground, but the sunshine was welcome, and light breeze.  Half a dozen drifts produced half a dozen decent flatties, with only three or four littl'uns to throw back.  Part-way through the morning, a fair sized seal popped up to see what I was about, then went on his way.  Otherwise, not another soul around anywhere - the ultimate "social distancing".

Had lunch then back on the trailer and home, with a beaut feed for me and Merlene for Friday: did them gently in butter, with a lemon and butter sauce: yum!
