Blackmans Bay Fishing
« on: October 25, 2019, 12:55:45 pm »
Had a good day at Blackmans Bay yesterday with perfect weather conditions. It was the first opportunity to take the new but secondhand 429 Stacer Rampage out and give the engine a good run.

Some mates jumped in for a dive and found a few abalone, while I focussed on the calamari. Seemed to be a few about, especially later in the day, large ones hanging in deeper water. We lost 5 boat side, so really need to work on the betting skills!

Thanks for the report, Blake: looks like a nice day out indeed!

Good to know the squid are starting to get active in the estuary/Channel area.

No, they are not.

However, they are clearly spawning ( I saw a school of baby squids the other day having fun ).

So, if people could only take their immediate need (best wishes for you to catch monster ones) for a feed, that would be best - you really don't need too many of them to enjoy.

Cheers

Arthur

Totally agree, had three people fishing so took the minimum. It took us a while to find the larger ones, hence the couple smaller “new season” ones.
