Not for the want of trying I finally caught and released a decent size wild brown trout for a change. Even better was the fact it was my personal best of the season so far. Still hoping to break the one kilo mark & better before the 20/21 season ends on the last Sunday closest to the end of April 2021 which is the 2nd May 2021. The larger three rivers (Meander, Mersey & Leven) I fish do hold a few trout well over the kilo size, it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.. fish1

Nice going, Adrian. A good flow on the river, for sure - and that seems to be when the better fish come out to play, eh?

Thanks Paul, the Meander is regulated by Hydro so the flow is good throughout the whole season now, the main problem is the amount of green cotton like algae that's in the river..
There's also a lot of heavy silt in the slower flowing stretches too, thankfully it's not as bad as the Mersey River yet..
cheers

Hmm: we have really not done done our rivers any favours, with the mostly agricultural run-off that goes into them year after year. Mainly fertilisers, but I'm sure there's other stuff as well. Doesn't bear thinking about! We nowadays can only imagine what they were originally like, all shaded by native vegetation and free of phosphates, and running clean and clear!

There's been plenty of letters & complaints lodged Paul but it seems to be falling on deaf ears as most things do.. fustrated1
